Want a new spin on your content? Try one (or two!) of these content experiments tailor-made for 2025.

Every new year arrives with new content trends. But how do you recognise the ones that work for your brand, business and personality?

Never changing anything will almost certainly take you to the declining-results zone, but running after every trend only risks losing your unique voice – and probably lead to content burn-out.

To help you find the Goldilocks zone of content trends, I’ve hand-picked 25 trends, strategies and ideas so that you can spice up your content strategy easily. Pick a few to try in the new year – and don’t forget to tell me how things go!

Reach the Billion People at Your Fingertips

1 – Update your channel selection. LinkedIn has a billion users (literally), but gaining organic traction has become more and more difficult. Try out something new, such as creating a YouTube channel or reaching new readers by writing on Medium or Substack.

2 – The omnichannel strategy maintains its momentum. People are less and less likely to make purchase decisions based on content on one channel only. Explore ways to reach them through various channels, such as a combination of social media, email and messaging tools.

3 – When choosing your channel palette, listen to your values. If you’ve been active on X but have grown to dislike the platform’s current atmosphere, explore Threads or Bluesky. Following your instincts and values is a valid strategy; sticking to a platform you don’t feel aligned with anymore will shine through your content.

Leverage AI in Content Creation

4 – Combine video and written content. Start by creating a fascinating video, then lean on AI to extract a transcript that serves as a starting point for a blog article. All bases covered!

5 – Update your profiles with AI’s guidance. Follow this training to make the most of AI-powered strategies without losing your uniqueness.

6 – Let AI arrange your content. AI-driven tools can rearrange your content plan with a click of fingers (and even faster). If spreadsheet-based content planning feels outdated, try tools like AirTable instead. (If even managing a spreadsheet is difficult, start with this tested and proven template).

7 – Don’t use AI as a writer but as a colleague. Most AI tools still write generic content that needs quite a bit of freshening up to sound and feel like you. But most AI tools are also fabulous sparring partners that help you come up with ideas you wouldn’t have imagined on your own. Try these strategies!

Diversify Your Content Strategy

8 – Create audio content. 545 million people listen to podcasts. How many of them are your listeners? When updating your channel portfolio, consider adding audio content to the mix. As a bonus: audio content is a powerful converter!

9 – Make videos part of your content plan. Written and static visual content are making way for video content, and especially short video content is soaring. If you’d love to do this but don’t know how, reach out to me for a super introduction to a guy who knows how to simplify the process.

10 – Create engaging posts. Improve your reach by turning your post into a speed networking event by asking others to introduce themselves and connect via the comments. You’re likely to make a bunch of new connections yourself, and the engagement boosts the visibility of all your content.

11 – Poll and ask questions. Continue the engagement streak by creating a poll or a Q&A post – and avoid these mistakes

Grow your email list

12 – Get consent. Yes, email marketing is still a thing – but only when your readers really want you to email them. Review your opt-ins and unsubscribe links and run a re-opt-in campaign for subscribers whose consent you’re not sure of.

13 – Design a lead magnet to attract high-ticket clients. Personalised, high-value freebies attract high-ticket clients who appreciate quality service. Here are 6+1 ideas to start with.

14 – Set up a two-level email strategy. Struggling to decide on which freebie to create? Make it two! Start with a quick-to-consume freebie and a simple nurture sequence, followed by an in-depth resource and email sequence reserved for those who want more.

15 – Engage with freebies. Engaging content has penetrated the freebie market, too. It’s time for tests, evaluations and personalised content that speaks straight to your dream audience.

16 – Write simple emails. Special formats, different content types and flashy visuals aren’t mandatory for email success. Readers connect to visually simple but high-content storytelling and emails.

Write Posts that Everyone Reads

17 – Write an article or record a video on trends and changes in your industry in 2025. You position yourself as an expert in your field and boost your credibility.

18 – Post a client case study. Not a mere testimonial but a post that explains the journey your client went through and the results you helped them achieve. Ideally, all this in the client’s own words.

19 – Extract the key points of a blog post and turn them into a slide deck, LinkedIn carousel or video. Synthesia is one tool that makes it all super simple and fast.

20 – Pick the six best-performing blog articles from last year, polish them off and publish them again. If you publish a monthly blog, your next year is 50 % settled!

21 – Simplify your followers’ lives and analyse complex information for them. Posts summarising key reports or resuming event content are popular for a good reason: they allow busy people to get a high-level overview of what’s been discovered.

Most Importantly: Have Fun with Content

22 – Do something you’ve never done before. Would it be the time for a joke, meme or a GIF?

23 – Try AI in a completely different way. Ask for repurposing ideas, have it challenge your thinking or give you out-of-the-box content ideas

24 – Share your childhood dream job and find parallels to your current situation. Do you dare to publish it alongside a childhood photo?

25 – Be spontaneous for a full month. What would your content feed look like if you didn’t plan at all?

Your content creation should be fun, after all! Enjoy wrapping up 2024, planning for 2025 and creating amazing content.

Uplevel your social media game and never lose another follower to competition again.
